Green Building

I am pleased to announce that I assisted the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Washington DC--as their LEED AP--earn their LEED Silver for Existing Buildings, Operations and Maintenance (EBOM) in November 2011.

I can assist others with investigating and understanding the LEED process and can guide you through it.  Please contact me for more information.

I also can help benchmark your building for ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.  Note that New York City (Local Law 84) and Washington DC require certain buildings to benchmark.  Please contact me for more information.

We are rapidly seeing the beginnings of a market transformation to a more sustainable way of constructing and improving buildings of all kinds. Green building is getting a lot of press and attention, although the market penetration is still small.

Strategically incorporating sustainability elements and energy performance into buildings often results in significant cost and business advantages, making these improvements almost no-brainers. Understanding the underlying business strategies for incorporating green building techniques is critical for achieving buy-in from all stakeholders and for creating a successful project.

Steve Offutt is a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) and has worked closely with colleagues at EPA's ENERGY STAR Homes and Buildings programs as well as with the US Green Building Council (that adminsters LEED Certification). In addition to his work with the Durch Embassy, he is helping a K-12 Preparatory school in Brooklyn NY develop an energy and sustainability plan.

He can guide you through the process of certifying your building as green as well as help integrate the environmental aspirations of your buildings with your business success.
